I have always felt that I would be going to college, and it seemed like the only route for me. All was fine and dandy until Senior year hit and I actually had to apply to schools! I was so conflicted and had no idea which one to go to, what to study, whether to swim, Christian school or not… I was a mess! Then in stepped Jesus. I was only saved and baptized this last fall, but that doesn't mean He’s using me any less! One day, I was in the middle of writing a college acceptance letter and decided to take a break from my laptop and ask God what I should do. Don't get me wrong; I had been asking for months! But this time He replied. 

I immediately grabbed my phone and searched up, “gap year mission trip”, which were the exact words He put on my heart. I excitedly clicked the first website that popped up and the rest is history! I truly believe that God has been preparing me my whole life to go on a trip like this. 

Additionally, it is a perfect solution to my anxiety and problems surrounding college. This year with COVID, most colleges are going online, and I did not want to go to a campus just to sit in a dorm room on my computer! I also didn’t want to go without a purpose. I would just be wasting everyone's and my own time and money, but after this trip, will be able to attend college with a purpose. Everything just checks out!

I am so, so grateful for this opportunity, but I am not there yet! As of now, I need to raise $15,600 in order to go on this trip. It is indeed a big sum, but I will be working hard on it, I have faith in this little community of Sitka, and I also know that with God, all things are possible!
